13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He's had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was told to take it down.
This story is dated today, although it took place on Monday.
I got home to post about it, and look what I find:
Those cockroaches sure will scurry in the daylight, won't they? This is really the part that gets me:
Edward Parraz, superintendent of the Denair Unified School District, said that a campus supervisor asked Cody to remove the flag earlier this week out of concern for his safety.
Those concerns arose from a dust-up among students last school year after some racial tensions arose when Latino students brought Mexican flags to school around Cinco de Mayo.
Anyone who has a problem with a US flag at an American school in the US--they are the problem, not the person with the US flag.
Ike was right.
I would be interested in knowing if this administrator, who appears to have an active interest in political agendas, was also actively telling students from other countries to stop having patches, jackets, hats and flags from those countries. Odd how the American flag is viewed by some as offensive IN AMERICA.
I will lay money the principal has an active Cinco de Mayo day...Mexian flags, etc
Forgive me Darren, I didn't read the full post with the reference of Conco do Mayo...but as I'm at the the Council of Colonels meeting in Galveston and somewhat intoxicated, please cut me some slack :)
PS: Also, please don't insult the cockroaches by associating them with these oxygen thief bureaucrats (and can you tell I'm drunk)
Anyone in this country who is offended by the American flag should leave the country forthwith.
i was waiting for you to post about it. apparently my mom knows someone who lives in that area, and what the media didn't discuss is that the school actively participates in cinco de mayo and allowed hispanic students, and even defended their right, to show up with hispanic culture clothing and flags and whatnot.....but one student with a flag, shame on him!
