The Outrageous Cost of Health Care

Just this morning I got my (direct deposit) paycheck stub, the first since June. How nice it is to have money again!

I was horrified to see that $97.27 was deducted for my monthly health insurance. I was doubly horrified to see that $93.36 was deducted in union dues!

We're within $4 here. I don't want to hear the unions' whining about health insurance costs when union dues are darn near the same freakin' amount!

Wow. I feel for you. Almost $100 a month in union dues? And you have NO CHOICE but to pay it?

That is just robbery, and it's just WRONG.

Legally I could opt out, but I'd still have to pay 100% of the dues and could get about 15% of it refunded to me at the end of the year. But as I would only be an "agency fee payer" and not a full union member, I wouldn't even have the option to vote on my own contract!

It is unfortunate to hear so many lack health insurance. We really need to improve our health care system. Health insurance is a major aspect to many and we should help everyone get covered.
