So Much Is Unexplained Here

Why are these health care workers so reluctant to get a vaccine?

Why would a hospital rather fire them now than have them unvaccinated, which is exactly how they've been the last 18 months and more?

Something's not right.

A hospital in upstate New York will put baby deliveries on hold after too many workers in its maternity unit resigned over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, according to local reports.

Lewis County General Hospital will be forced to temporarily stop all baby deliveries after Sept. 24 due to the staff's refusal to get vaccinated, WWNY-TV reported.

So far, six employees in the hospital’s maternity ward have chosen to resign instead of getting the vaccine, while another seven are undecided, Lewis County Health System Chief Executive Officer Gerald Cayer said during a news conference on Friday, according to the station.

"If we can pause the service and now focus on recruiting nurses who are vaccinated, we will be able to reengage in delivering babies here in Lewis County," Cayer said.

Since the vaccine was mandated for health care workers on Aug. 23, Cayer said that 30 workers have resigned, 20 of whom held clinical roles like nurses, therapists and technicians, the Watertown Daily Times reported.

While 464 of the hospital’s workers have been vaccinated, 165 others have yet to receive the vaccine, Cayer said.

"It just is a crazy time," Cayer told the paper, emphasizing that the hospital will not be shutting down services. "It’s not just LCHS-centric. Rural hospitals everywhere are really trying to figure out how we’re going to make it work."

I've been reading about health care workers, a lot of nurses, who are leaving their jobs rather than get vaccinated.

What do they know or suspect that we do not?

California Department of Health is requiring all health care workers to get all their shots by 9/30. It's going to be interesting to see how many will get fired in a couple weeks.

I'm not as interested as much in what they know or suspect as how bad their jobs must be just to give them up in such numbers.

Their jobs have become garbage thanks to the antivax crowd.

And yet, THEY don't want to get vaccinated.

Reading comprehension. It's a wonderful thing. You should try it some time.

Anonymous,

Being a nurse is hard work, they have a lot of responsibility, but not authority. The work load is decided by administrators, and not necessarily by medical types.

Even without my suspicion that the vaccines are causing more harm than good, I can understand why they have reached the end of their ropes.

Nothing. The data they have is the same as you and I have. It's just that in any profession, you will have some idiots and these nurses are idiots.

Donalbain,

I am a chemist who has been working with coatings for much of my career. If you were to buy and use one, who would you listen to best: The salesclerk at a box store, a person who has used it a lot in their work or the chemist who worked on it.

My preference for the use of it would be the worker, then the chemist and the clerk last. I see the nurses as the workers who probably have much more experience in the use and results than either the developer or the publicist.

Just as with abortion, it seems this hospital authority thinks babies only come when it's convenient. I can't promise you that's not the case. Maybe they should license more midwives and doulas up there because it sounds like they're going to need them. BTW, I have a now seven month old granddaughter and my daughter in law is still nursing. She has not gotten the COVID shot because she doesn't know or trust the government assessment on the impact on her daughter. She may once M is weaned. Our son, who works in public and has for the duration of COVID without having the virus, did get a shot but probably won't get the booster. It seems doctors affiliated with big corporate hospitals are pushing COVID, but many OB/gyn's who are already fearful of lawsuits and pay the highest liability insurance, are not.
