Emptiness and Despair

In the Harry Potter books, bad people were locked up in a prison called Azkaban.  Wraith-like beings called dementors, which could literally suck the soul out of you, kept guard over the prisoners.

Today I had to attend 6 hours of district/union training in how to be a participant in my own evaluation.  It was held at Azkaban, and conducted by dementors.

I feel your pain. I can retire in May or work one more year with my current license. I am not renewing my license; will be 70. The thought of not sitting through 3 days of meaningless PD (don't get me started on being forced to teach/embrace/believe in Covey's Leader in Me program that started in our Elem and MS and now is in force in our HS) really makes May retirement look really enticing.
I wonder how many years until the Leader in Me is shown to be a ridiculously expensive bunch of crap that is inculcating Mormon beliefs in our public schools? We aren't even allowed to speak against it in school; teachers get bad ratings if they do for not supporting school culture.

I guess I'm fortunate in that we only had three hours, containing perhaps fifteen minutes of actual information. But hey, we got to play this really cool game where we chatted with someone who we would not ordinarily talk to. I got the special ed secretary. Nice lady. And so it goes...
