I Don't Normally Link To The Guardian, But....

...but when The Guardian publishes a survey of Europeans' attitudes towards the French, and when these attitudes generally agree with mine, how can I refuse?

"Interviewees were simply asked an open question - what five adjectives sum up the French," said Olivier Clodong, one of the study's two authors and a professor of social and political communication at the Ecole Superieur de Commerce, in Paris. "The answers were overwhelmingly negative."

Digusting indeed.

Did I not post something about the Almighty Spell-Check at this very blog?

Great article. When I lived in England, the tabloids (The Sun, The Mirror) really whipped up anti-French sentiment at every turn, especially towards the Euro. I suspect the British will never adopt the Euro, solely because the French have.

Here’s another reason the British dislike the French: http://www.eursoc.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/532/Chirac_Attacks_Britain.html

I thought educators were supposed to be tolerant.

I hope you never get a French student, or your racism might cost you your job.

I have at least one, or at least a native French speaker. She comments on this blog. We don't always agree but have a healthy respect for each other.

And the French aren't a race.

I find that hard to believe, seeing as how you've shown nothing but contempt for her national origin.

Your Mother Was a Hampster, and your father smelt of elderberries!

Having first hand experience in the matter, it's not so much contempt as a running joke. (Well, except when the French do or say something legitimately contemptible, such as their stance on China/Taiwan., but at that point I'm pretty sure he's within his rights.)
