More on Katrina

As promised earlier today on this blog, I made my contribution to the American Red Cross a few minutes ago. Mike, that was for you. I haven't forgotten the emergency candles and MRE's you (jokingly) sent me during the rolling blackouts of the energy crisis a couple years ago.

I also saw $3 a gallon gas here in Sacramento for the first time in my life today. $3.079, actually, at a Safeway gas station. Other places were in the $2.80's still.

1. It's Mike "from" New Orleans...yep, I'm in Kuwait...the exteneded family is OK, they are in Baton Rouge or in Texas. They all live in the suburbs. From the pictures I've seen, it may not be as bad as NO is itself. So they parish president is letting people go back into Jefferson Parish (Not Orleans) at 0600 Monday just to get a few things and then leave. He's serius about this...it will take some time to get power, gas etc back online.

2. Darren, thanks for the donation. Oh, you will appreciate this. On Wednesday I received an email from the American Red Cross asking for money. After I made my donation, I forwared to the entire command...not knowing it includes the downtrace...long story short, about 7000 people go the message. Well, a few people did not appreciate this line at the end, "Just to clarify, this the American Rec Cross, not the International Red Cross from Switzerlan. There are the Good Guys.." Well, my Chief of Staff did not appreciate the comment on a NGO...and at least two people said they may file IG complaints on me...what are they going to do, send my ass to the desert! :)

Thanks again, and guys, anything you can do to help, money, food, clothing helps....

Mike

Mike, you're a field grade. And from what I saw, while what you said wasn't politically correct, it wasn't in any way worthy of any type of legal action, either.

Tell them to bring it on! Perhaps they'd send you back to the US to a nice, cozy, air conditioned prison, which you'd be released from before your tour in Kuwait would be up!

Then tell them to shut the f*** up and get back to work. There are *real* things to complain about, not that type of tripe.

HOLY SHIT, your right...the labotomy has started...whenever someone says Major, I was so...they say field grade, and I say "what the fuck, I'm not that old...and now I'm no longer us...I'm them! WAAAAAAA" :)

Amvet, since I use a generic Blogger template for this site, I don't know what you'd see here that would be helpful to you. But whatever it is, glad you've dropped by--and hope you do so again soon!
