New Format's A Flop?

One of my loyal readers (and good students!) told me at Open House tonight that my blog was much more interesting when I was doing it in essay format as opposed to the summaries with links I've been doing recently. I actually enjoyed writing the essays but just haven't felt up to it lately.

Comments/suggestions? Agree/disagree?

Well, I liked your personal essays more. They were more inciteful and interesting to read. The links to the actual articles are okay, but the articles themselves are bland, so its nice to have something humorous and intelligent to read

Can you do a mixture? Personal essays are often interesting, but I also like to see news links that have people shaking their heads or clapping their hands too.

Darren,

I understand the need to sometimes post a short summary and a link-and that's okay-but it's not what got me started reading your blog. I really enjoy your insights and opinions. We don't always agree 100%, but we're pretty close (as I'm another Red teacher in N. California) and it was nice to see someone saying what I was thinking.

Anyway, hope the "stuff" (whatever it was) that you were going through is getting better now. I was worried about you for a while there. And I hope you'll feel up to your personal takes on situations again.

Hopefully you'll like today's combination of commentary *and* links.

It's great to see some of those good old essays that got me into your blog again. The piece on France and Taiwan was very well written and something I personally hadn't heard anything about. Keep up the great work.

P.S.
Remember, no matter what's going on in you life, you can always write in this blog, and I will read it.
