Protest in any peaceful way you like, but some of us see no reason to disrespect the flag, either. Though it’s now largely memory-holed, the original reason Colin Kaepernick — who once wore socks depicting cops as “pigs” and defended Fidel Castro — took a knee was this: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
Kaepernik started his mission in life, "not going to stand up to s how pride in a flag..." conviently the week after he was benched. If one was cynical (see cops) that would be an indicator he was not truly in for the "da struggle." So forgive me if I believe he's not concerned about black lives.
Murder like that of George Floyd is a rare event. Chauvin was charged with murder, as were his accessories. There is not a single politician in the country who excused what happened in Minneapolis.
No justifying what happened to Floyd, but this was not, by MN law, murder. It looks more and more like manslaughter. The feds may go after civil rights violations, but MN is going to have a hell of a time making a murder conviction. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/609
