My kids came on Thursday. After relaxing and reading lots of things all summer, being relatively quiet, I had to be "on" for 7 hours: energetic, outgoing, available, knowledgeable, and patient. I don't think non-teachers understand that part of the job very well. There just are not very many minutes in that time to rest the brain or the body! I feel so blessed to have spent so many years doing what I love and two years from now I won't be going back to school; time to retire then. Not sure just how I am going to handle THAT day!

As Roy Scheider said in *All the Jazz,* "It's showtime!"
