Already the country's longest-lived monarch and the world's oldest-serving sovereign, at approximately 5.30pm on September 9 Elizabeth will reach yet another milestone when she becomes Britain's longest reigning monarch, breaking Victoria's record of 63 years, seven months and two days on the throne. She's a leader I've long admired. She has always demonstrated class and dignity--I admired her mother, too.
Education, politics, and anything else that catches my attention.

I don't know enough about her to admire her or not -- I have no idea what kind of a person she is in private.
Her mother lived to 101. If she lives another 7 years, she will see her platinum jubilee in Feb of 2022.
My mother talked about how Princess Elizabeth worked for Red Cross and did a great deal of personal volunteering during WWII and after.
She drove ambulances near the end of the war.
My grandparents were the first on their block to get a television. Grandpa bought nana one so she could watch Elizabeth's coronation (nana was British until getting American citizenship).
