Why Is This The School's Business At All?

Schools have enough work to do during the school day and should not be getting involved in what students do outside of school:

A teenager claims a member of the Rocklin High School football team secretly recorded them while they were engaged in sexual activity. The teen's father at Wednesday night's board meeting accused the school district of not doing enough to address what happened.

Rocklin Unified said its administration team found out about what happened on Jan. 26, 2023. It said because this happened off-campus during Thanksgiving break, it brought in a school resource officer to open an investigation.

Would the district be involved at all if one of the students were not a football player?

Too many parents want schools to take responsibility for what their kids do all the time. Why isn't he upset his daughter had sex with some stupid football player? Why aren't the football player's parents concerned about possible legal implications? It takes two to tango as they say and unless she's claiming she was raped, both parties share the blame.

This reminds me of something that happened to the son of family friends. He was the big football star at his high school his senior year. Heavily recruited, he could do no wrong. This one freshman girl stalked him. Showed up at his locker, stayed at school to watch him practice, showed up uninvited to the family's Thanksgiving dinner! She offered him everything and a bag of chips. For whatever reason-boredom, frustration, lack of guidance, stupidity-he had sex with her thinking that was all she wanted. No, she wanted a RELATIONSHIP and when the boy said no, she went to her lawyer Daddy and claimed rape. In the end, the boy won his trial-the girl didn't show up. But he lost his college promised scholarships and ended up in the military. I wish I could say it had a happy outcome but he's truly been kind of a drifter ever since. He wrecked his life, but she helped.
