President Obama was effusive in his praise for the Special Relationship when he visited London recently, but his administration continues to slap Britain in the face over the highly sensitive Falklands issue. Washington signed on to a “draft declaration on the question of the Malvinas Islands” passed by unanimous consent by the General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS) at its meeting in San Salvador yesterday, an issue which had been heavily pushed by Argentina. In doing so, the United States sided not only with Buenos Aires, but also with a number of anti-American regimes including Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela and Daniel Ortega’s Nicaragua.
This issue has been decided, and enough people died deciding it. And if you believe in self-determination, the Falklands will stay a British dependency.
What possible good does our idiot president expect by putting the United States on the wrong side of history, as well as of decency, in this situation? What does he expect to get by continuing to screw our allies and suck up to our less-than-friends? Sorry, Obamabots, you can't pin this one on President Bush at all. This is entirely an Obama screw-up. Please defend it.

I was buds with an Argentine exchange student back in 1982-83, and he did not want to go home for fear of getting involved (drafted) in that mess. Argentina's then-ruling junta only initiated that scuffle in hopes of propping up their failing regime. Oops.
