I thoroughly enjoyed that video and will be sending it to friends. There was a quote in the video that I really liked:
"Is passion supposed to replace common sense?"
It shouldn't, but I believe it has in many cases, and that terrifies me. I think people are prone to make bad decisions when they use their heart instead of their brain.
I have thought that to be the case for years. It was the Green party that pushed socialism in Europe and the it is the same group that grabbed hold of the Democrat platform eight years ago. Sadly, too many people what something for what they think will be nothing-like health care, college and such. They don't seem to understand that the money has to come from somewhere. They can tax corporations all they want and they can try to soak the rich, but in the end the money will come out of middle income pockets.
Kind of depends on your agenda. If the various passions serve your purpose then you do everything you can encourage passion and generally at the expense of common sense.
One of the cornerstones of the Constitution is the obstruction of passion. That's why the President isn't popularly elected and why Senators weren't popularly elected.
