I Have To Go Back To Work
I go back to work 2 weeks from today. Does anyone else remember when school started around Labor Day?

When I first began teaching in 1996, we reported for the Wed and Thu before school, then took a 4 day weekend for Labor Day and school started the Tuesday after. Now, we report Aug. 5, school starts Aug. 10, but the trade is the first semester is finished before Christmas break. This coming year, our last day of school will be June. 2. I will say it is nice to travel on vacation in Early June before it gets too hot.
We not only have to go back on August 14th, we go five days longer than any school in the state due to the cockamamie accelerated block schedule.I've been in my classroom almost every day for the last week prepping for AP Art History. Luckily we got a color copier (!!!!) which will make my task of creating the info pages for the 250 artworks required a bit easier. Monday I get to unload a truck because Aramark won't let their workers do it. I'm nearly 60 years old. If I hurt something, I hope they're ready to put in a qualified sub to teach my AP classes.
