I don't know the answer, but I do know there were missions as far north as San Francisco because I saw one there. I believe its called the Delores Mission. It has a more formal name, but I don't remember what it is.

Growing up in Oregon means I was not taught as much California history as I was Oregon history.

Of course there is history in Oregon. Lewis and Clark did not go to California.:-D
