The Royal Road

There are two types of math people, algebraists and geometers, and seldom do these groups overlap.

I am an algebraist.

I had hoped to get through a career of teaching without ever having to teach geometry, a subject I don't enjoy at all, but such is not to be the case. I've got one section of geometry this coming school year, right after lunch.

Thank you for confirming what I have long since believed. I HATED algebra and never did well there. However, on the few ocasions when I have been exposed to geometry concepts and lessons, I do well. Alas, I never took a geometry course in either high school or college, as I always "stalled out" in algebra.

I much prefer Algebra, but I did enjoy proofs in Geometry.

Proofs were more "logical" compared to all the formulas you had to remember for geometry.

You leave out Trig, which I never really understood until I had to take calculus. Even today I still have to use reference sheets for the rules.
