I received a link to
this web site from an emaillist of which I am a member. This site claims to have a list of the 2000 vocabulary words that top a frequency analysis from studies of the S.A.T. for the last 10 years. I cannot vouch for the site's accuracy, but someone sure went to a lot of trouble to put it together and they're not charging any money for it.

Thanks! I linked to you from here.
Thanks for the link!
It's always interesting to see where visitors to this site are from.
If these were taken over the past 10 years, then many of these words were probably only used in the analogies section which was famous for trying students' vocabularies. Now that there are no more analogies, a lot of these words are probably no longer used. Many of the difficult words used in the reading and writing passages can now be figured out from context, so memorizing long lists is no longer as productive a use of time as it once was.
Good call, KimJ.
