More Pictures

In this post I talked about grandpa's 100th birthday party and added a couple of pictures of family members who were able to attend. Today's pictures are different.

Throughout the entire party was a slideshow of pictures from grandpa's life. Two of them really struck a chord with me--maybe because I miss both my grandmothers so much. Here are the pictures, both with grandma and grandpa:

And just under 30 years later....

You're a Duck Hunter? Really?

And here I thought you always had good sense. I guess that came along later in your life.

When it came to branch selection, I was down to Armor or ADA. I decided I was more afraid of aircraft than of tanks, and I liked the autonomy that a short-range air defense lieutenant had in the field. Unlike infantry and armor lieutenants, who had "daddy" a few hundred meters away, my commander could be 20 km away. I saw an opportunity for the cream to rise to the top, and quickly.
