War On Science

It's silly that there seems to be a war on everything except militant Islam, but whatever.  I lifted this entire excerpt from Instapundit:
RAND SIMBERG: The Politicians’ War On Science. “Now, in fact, I would prefer politicians who are conversant with science and its methods to those not, but even more I prefer politicians who are conversant with basic math, economics, and human nature, and have an aversion to wrecking the nation’s economy. And if they have to occasionally salute the sensibilities of people who believe that evolution is the work of the devil, I can live with that — particularly since we have a current president who does exactly the same thing, while flooring the accelerator toward the fiscal cliff.”
In addition, I would prefer politicians who are conversant with the Constitution.

The fiscal cliff is an issue of compromise, something Republicans have seemed to have totally forgotten about.

  2. I'm sure someone will let me know the moment Saint Barack gets serious about compromise. He didn't show any sign of it in his first 4 years and I'm not expecting to see any in the next 4 years.

His attitude to the idea of Democratic compromise was neatly stated in his comment after he was elected in 09 "I won; get over it." There's no evidence that he feels any differently now. To the Democrats, compromise means the Republicans roll over and play dead, supporting the Democrat's agenda.

  5. The GOP has already indicated they'll bend on tax hikes. Obama has ... well, offered essentially nothing in return. I thought the idea was to get our fiscal house in order; explain to me, then, how $1.6 trillion over so many years in increased revenue coupled with a mere $400 billion in spending cuts (over 10 ten years) will do just this. Especially given what our annual budgets are now (around $4 trillion).
