I hope no one will try to "explain"
this to us, providing some sob story in an effort to justify what happened:
On the day of the incident, Williams says the pair walked into her classroom during class and began arguing about a book. The teacher says she asked them to leave, but the mother pushed past her and grabbed a book off her desk.
According to a police report, when Williams tried to get the book back, the mother pulled the teacher's hair and threw her to the ground. Then the mother and daughter stomped on the teacher.
Not going to try to explain that behaviour because there are so many messed-up possibilities.
ReplyDeleteBUT, how on earth is the school going to "order" anybody to pay $500 to the teacher's medical expenses? I'm concerned that the teacher is going to not be reimbursed that by school insurance or something and it will ruin her credit.
Unfortunately this sort of thing helps that stereotype in the homeschooling community that ps kids are a buncha bad apples. Even my own son has the impression that ps kids are "rough and tough" because they heard about the local principal getting punched by a thug. But there are lots of GOOD and NICE kids at ps! It's a shame there are not news stories often about them.
Classy. I wish I was amazed at the conduct of parents. More and more I am glad that I have military and police training to protect myself. That doesn't, of course, take into effect guns. I certainly know how to use them, but I don't have them in school. Should I?
ReplyDeleteOne more reason I support allowing qualified teachers to exercise their right to keep and bear arms on campus.
ReplyDeleteToo many parents think that their kids are entitled to an education without having to do any work. I have kids who show up three days out of five and think they deserve A's. I have parents who write excuses so that their daughters can have tans and look nice in their formals for prom. And we wonder why education is in disarray. Heck, I don't want a gun, because some kid might steal it, but having a panic button and a cop patrolling the halls may be a good idea in some schools.
