Happy Anniversary
35 years ago today, I think it was a Wednesday, my class graduated from West Point. I may not think of that day very much, but I always think about what it represented.
I was on the WP webpage yesterday. They are touting that of the 32 Rhodes scholars this year, 4 of them (all women) are from West Point. One out of eight.
In 1984, I went to the Infantry Officer's Basic Course with the class of 1984. (I came out of ROTC.) Great times, I really came to respect the Academy graduates. Watched several step on it, that's normal, but also watched others- go to great heights (think, GO). I was a rarity, being prior enlisted and both married with a child. But had a great time with them. The new lieutenants managed to convince the IOBC cadre to stand down on Army-Navy game, when we were doing small unit patrolling in the field.
Despite our rucksacks weighing 70-80 pounds, they managed to smuggle in various Black n Gold gear; hats, mufflers, gloves etc. That they would wear during the game.
Good times, great guys. Congrats on your anniversary.

Auntie Ann: West Point has sent a disproportionate number of students to Oxford, given the size of its student body.
