This information comes from the CDC, which is no longer under Orangemanbad’s control, so everything they say is now
science! and is 100% correct and you have no legitimate reason to doubt it:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reiterated on Wednesday that schools can safely reopen even if teachers are not vaccinated against COVID-19.
Last week the CDC weighed into the ongoing debate over whether to reopen schools for in-person instruction, noting that schools that are currently welcoming students into classrooms with certain safety precautions in place have had only “scant transmission” of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
“The CDC team reviewed data from studies in the United States and abroad and found the experience in schools different from nursing homes and high-density work sites where rapid spread has occurred,” The Washington Post reported last Tuesday. “The review, which echoes the conclusions of other researchers, comes as many school districts continue to wrestle with whether and how to reopen schools and as President Biden makes a return to in-person learning one of his top pandemic-related priorities.”
“The preponderance of available evidence from the fall school semester has been reassuring,” CDC researchers noted in an article for the Journal of the American Medical Association. “There has been little evidence that schools have contributed meaningfully to increased community transmission.”
“The conclusion here is with proper prevention efforts…we can keep transmission in schools and educational settings quite low,” the study’s lead author noted in the article. “We didn’t know that at the beginning of the year but the data has really accumulated.”
Why are our schools closed? It's not because of science!
Its because of MATH!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the odds of finding an on-call baby sitter for the days school is cancelled due to quarantines? It was impossible pre-pandemic to find a sitter for sick children, so parents sent them to school anyway to hang out in the nurses's office. Now they can't. How many backup bus drivers are there? Very difficult to find here.
My district restarted for gen ed in Jan. The next day, the closures began as students and staff rec'd covid test results. Busses, classrooms etc had to be closed for cleaning and lack of subs for the staff in quarantine.
That's odd because my grandson's school has been open for awhile now. There's been no outbreaks. I know some teachers chose not to return for health reasons, but ironically many of them are SENDING THEIR OWN KIDS TO SCHOOL. The SCIENCE globally says schools are not centers of infection and even when infected, unless a child has a complicating factor such as asthma, allergies or compromised immunity, most recover quickly. I don't see how it would be a problem to offer in person education for those students and teachers able to cope and provide at home learning using those trained teachers fearful of returning to run those classes. What it looks like now, especially in Chicago, that the NEA is lobbying for more money and willing to sacrifice the development of all students to further those goals.
ReplyDeletePS. The child care issues reinforce a concept I had years ago that there should be on site daycare for teachers' kids and that could also provide another vocational training opportunity for students. In fact I am so sick and tired of reading stories about babies abused during potty training, that I think ALL kids need to learn some child development. We have babies raising babies generationally and none of them seem to understand what is appropriate. As a perk for keeping teachers, on site daycare allows for mothers to return with close access.
