What Is Really the Problem?

If there is a race problem in this country, if black Americans are having a rough time, perhaps I can be forgiven for believing that my fellow Republicans and I are not the problem.  Perhaps, just maybe, if all lives matter, and if the law is blind to race, if we spent more time concerning ourselves with the content of someone's character rather than the color of their skin, if we focused more on what unites us and less on what divides us--again, perhaps, just maybe, we'll live in a more harmonious country.

But half of us can't do that.  Their entire raison d'etre is division and strife.
