Today is March 13th. I don't go back to work until April 13th. This is unprecedented in my 20+ years of teaching.
I'm guest-blogging over at Joanne's since she's in South Africa for a couple weeks. Click here to read details of this school closure.
Schools in DFW are closed for Spring Break and an additional week. All local colleges except UNT and UTD are on teleconferencing classes. My Mom had an episode with congestive heart failure ten days ago and was moved into a rehab facility last Thursday. We can't visit in person. And today when I dropped off some things she wanted from her apartment I had to leave them outside the door for a one day quarantine. At the local groceries it's gone from shortage of toilet paper to empty meat bins. On the funny side the same folks with multiple packs of water are now scarfing up paper towels. Plumbers are going to have a hey day in about a week. Just saying. This is all very odd. Things are being canceled that are outdoors. And frankly being at home is making me paranoid and questioning ever headache or cough. I just don't think we're being told the whole story.....yet.
ReplyDeletehave you beat by a week. We are off until April 20th. That includes our spring break. We have to go in next week for 3 days to figure out curriculum within our subjects, but students aren't coming in at all.
