When I was in San Francisco, a few years ago, I started to put baby greens into a plastic bag provided by the Ferry Place Market vendor. He asked if I was going to eat the greens immediately. I said that I planned to put them in my hotel room refrigerator overnight, to add to the sandwich I would make for my flight home. Saying he would deny doing this, he slipped me a different bag, because the mandated biodegradable ones started composting the contents immediately. Delicate greens, berries etc would be inedible in less than 30 minutes. Idiotic. When at home, I reuse both grocery and produce bags, but it is not always feasible or possible. There is a real sanitation issue.
I have to wonder what liberals think happens to recycled plastic bags. I happen to know, but obviously they don't. It makes so much more sense to reuse existing objects than to be constantly making stuff that self-destructs.
Coastal California -- the gift that keeps on giving!

ReplyDeleteIn their defense, they probably deal with more ocean litter and it's more apparent to see the negative effects than inland.
