This Saddens Me

I've been a Talker For Walker, but now he's dropping out:
Scott Walker announced Monday he is dropping out of the GOP presidential race.

The Wisconsin governor entered the primary in July as a front-runner in Iowa and a darling of both the conservative base and powerful donors after winning battles against public unions in his left-leaning home state. But that promising start was quickly dashed after poor debate performances dried up support from donors.

"Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive, conservative message can rise to the top of the field. With this in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately," Walker said at a news conference in Madison, Wisconsin.

He encouraged other trailing Republican candidates to follow his path.

"I encourage other Republican presidential candidates to consider doing the same so that the voters can focus on a limited number of candidates who can offer a positive, conservative alternative to the current front-runner," said Walker, referencing businessman Donald Trump. "This is fundamentally important to the future of our party, and, more important, the future of the country."

  1. Please look at what Ted Cruz is really saying, not words others put in his mouth. I've met him. I've talked to him. He's conservative, but he's also pragmatic. And he is very smart. He honestly wants the best for this country and frankly I don't see anyone else out there making the statements he has made on the issues. I watched him travel across the south to small towns talking to small groups. He's really someone to consider.

  2. Grr...I like Walker a LOT. Since when does a stupid debate help us choose our candidates? The electoral system--*facepalm*

I, too, like Walker, and I'm also sad that he's dropping out. Too bad the JV team isn't dropping yet. Does Pataki really think he has a chance?
Ellen, I do like Cruz, I like his ideas, and how smart he is. But, he doesn't exude power and strength. What would he be like with Putin? Could he handle the UN? If he could convince me, I think I could vote for him.

  4. Here's my take, the media, like the RNC, has actively attempted to silence Cruz. They can't control him, they don't like that he wants to address issues over petty bickering they don't like that he is a disciplined speaker. In both debates even those lower in polling were addressed before Cruz. That is not a coincidence. But Cruz is of the opinion that Tip O'Neill was right-all politics is local. He's been traveling and talking to groups who may not know him or his views. He's published a number of position papers in spite of the deliberate attempt to shut him down. As Walker and Perry and others fall away, conservatives are going to have to go somewhere. I truly don't think Trump is 'the one', but Ted Cruz could be. The main problem is that the media, for whatever reason, has tried to frame him as a villain when in reality he's one of the few candidates who knows the issues, speaks to the issues and refuses to play media games. Don't trust just what a third party has said-go to his site, read his views. I truly think he could be a very good candidate.
