A study from Case Western Reserve University last year showed that standardized testing scores are excellent measures of general cognitive ability. And they continue to play a role in the competitive college admissions process. The standardized tests discussed in the report are the SAT and ACT, not K-12 standardized tests. Still, that won't matter to some; the SAT/ACT are sexist or racist or something.
I believe it. But note ... your post refers to cognitive ability, not mastery of a subject. That's where I'm positive standardized tests are virtually worthless.
