I thought I'd explained this already. OK, once again.
Rules are made by the superior to guide, protect and, to the extent possible, elevate the inferior. Naturally, rules made for the inferior don't apply to the superior, the rule-makers.
Does that make it clear why a black-only college dorm is not just acceptable but necessary and a black-only restroom is wrong and evil?
... is this a lounge just because one happens to be a woman? Or is it a room where women can go to breastfeed/pump? (Employers are required to provide a clean, secure, non-bathroom facility for that purpose for the mothers of children under a year.)
If it's the first, then not cool. If it's the second, then the name needs to be changed to make it clear. (And good for them for setting up something as early as the 70s!)
