The answer to yesterday's question is:
1517.
Today's question is, the first in Computers Week, is:
In only a few years, desktop computer hard drives have gone from megabyte size, to gigabyte, to terabyte. What is the next larger term, meaning 10^15 bytes?
Petabyte.
ReplyDeleteExabyte.
ReplyDeleteI wanna say PetaByte, but that just sounds wrong on so many levels.
ReplyDeletePorkulusbyte? I don't know ...
ReplyDeleteWell I know a "google" is somewhere up the line, just not sure if it's 10^15 or not. To date myself, I worked on one of the first 5 megabyte 5 1/4" drives.
ReplyDeletePeta is up next: 1E+15.
ReplyDeleteExa: 1E+18
Zetta: 1E+21
Yotta: 1E+24
A googol is way out there; a googolplex even farther.
Petabyte....
ReplyDeletepetabyte
ReplyDeleteDarren, Hi. I really liked your blog. I'm a pretty hard core conservative myself. I can't figure out how to contact you though. If you can, please E-mail me. I have teacher questions for you. I'm trying to get credentialed in math. Help! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBigassbyte?
ReplyDeleteGeorge
I only memorized what Mr. Tsuda had on the poster on his classroom wall when I was in 11th/12th grades:
ReplyDeleteexa peta tera giga mega kilo hecto deka deci centi milli micro nano pico femto atto
