Teachers In Bikinis

I'm not sure how good I'd look in a bikini, but this teacher doesn't look so bad--and she was fired because of the pictures.

I've said it too many times to remember--teachers should not have to be saints. What I do in my off-campus time is no one's business but mine, except in very limited situations.

Firing a teacher for bikini pictures? A governmental agency that could do that could also fire you for showing up at the "wrong" side of a political rally.

Anyway, the woman in the story linked above has turned to porn to support herself. You've got to love this closing statement:

"So I told her, use ‘em before they fall to the ground. But God, does she need to work on her acting!"

  1. One of the reasons that I don't use my full name on my Facebook account is because I post many political article links. Frankly, given the nature of our society lately and the predominant attitude in educational circles, I think my job could be forfeit if I ended up on the wrong side of some political fights. Sad but true....

Given the way that the local lefties make an annual effort to have me fired for being a conservative blogger, I'm glad that I work for a district where the administration is aware of the First Amendment.

  3. My 15 yr old is afraid to report her History teacher and so are we.
The affects to her grade would not be worth the satisfaction.
He tends to make blanket statements.
Last week he said, "All Republicans are racists." Unfortunately most of the class nodded in agreement. If another teacher made such a blanket statement about the "Other" political party the children would then complain.
My kid just keeps her mouth shut until she gets home from school.

  4. I'd challenge *stupid* statements like that.

  5. Normally I agree with you, Darren -but there's more to this story than what's written in the article. She doesn't have custody of her three kids - why?

Excerpt: "Shepherd got into the business (porn) after the captain of the fishing charter that got her into trouble in the first place recommended it as a way to make good money. Captain Gil Coombes, of the boat ‘Smokin ‘Em,' owns a porn Web cam studio with his wife, Kat, called KLC productions."

So, this woman just "happened" to be on a boat that belongs to a man who owns a porn production company, gets in trouble for photos of herself in a bikini, and later goes to work for the guy. This implies that she had some ongoing communication with these porn people.

"I'm not particularly proud of it. To be honest, I hate it," Shepherd told Page2live.com. "I'm an educated woman, but I never thought it would come to this. No one gets brought up thinking they'll be a floozy."

Are you kidding? She had the "job" before she left the boat the first time. This story only serves as a publicity stunt.

In other words, "Poor me. I turned to porn because I couldn't get ANY other job - honest! Not even at Hooters! By the way, my screen name is Leah Lust and you can look for my DVD coming out in ......"

As far as teachers being able to do "what they want" on their own time...it depends on what they want to do. If a teacher wants to go water skiing, play bingo, or even go have a couple of brewskys with some pals - go ahead. If a teacher wants to act in a porn flick, rob a bank, or even just get stone-faced drunk...that's another story. Many industries where the personal lives of employees may impact the lives of the consumers have regulations on personal conduct - the airline industry is one example. I believe teaching is important enough to have such standards of conduct as well.

  6. So, there ARE two sides to every story after all:

  7. Teachers frequently don't get fired for violating actual laws. It's absolutely ridiculous that one should be fired for doing something that is not only legal, but exceptionally tame.
