When one article can tie the field of psychology, the US and British armies, Saul Alinsky, a Soviet psychologist, the National Education Association, 60's counterculture, and the current War on Terror all into one neat package,
it's definitely worth reading.
I read this yesterday, but forgot to comment. It appears to me that each generation in seeking to separate itself from its parents, goes the opposite direction. If the kids in my classes are any indication, they are far more conservative than their parents. It's going to be interesting.
ReplyDeleteLOL Agreeing with Ellen. I mean, my kids make me look liberal. :]
ReplyDeleteBut my take from the article? I would absolutely discourage the military from taking my younger children. Ever. If they're 8 and 9 and cry over Civil War footage, I can't imagine they would do well in combat.
But the older ps-schooled children have figured out what the teacher wants on a paper, and just spew that. It isn't necessarily that they believe it. There is a disconnect there between what the children FEEL and what they WRITE for class I can't put my finger on.
It seems dishonest and yet, practical. :]
