  3. 3M stands for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing. With that said, I wonder how many people know what it was that 3M mined and what they manufactured with it. Rather than force everyone to look it up, they mined abrasives and manufactured sandpaper from it. As I recall they were the first company to make a successful wet or dry paper. They also manufacture grinding wheels and other abrasive products, along with a number of products in other lines such as Scotch tape and post it notes.

Hmmm.... maybe all of the readers of your blog are products of the government schools, else they don't know how to do a web search!

    3M? That's easy: "Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing."

  6. The idea is to see if you *know* the answer, not if you can find it. Anyone can find the answer to any of these questions in about 20 seconds.

Now, it stands for 3M. Originally, it was Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, but the company shifted several years ago to just "3M."

  9. Kentucky Fried Chicken changed its name a few years back to KFC, but the letters still stand for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

    Same with 3M.

    Who says? I do!

I actually did know the answer without having to search it on the web (or anywhere else). But I'm alarmed that many folks not only don't know ANYTHING but they also DON'T KNOW where to look to find the answer. Even more worrisome is that they don't care that they don't know!
