I Have Learned Well The Lessons Of The Left

I heard on the radio today that refinery workers in the US may go on strike tomorrow, so out I went to fill up my tank.

If there's a strike tomorrow, and gasoline prices rise, I will blame President Obama. If a strike is averted, I will not give him credit at all. Gas prices have risen since Obama was elected and are currently at their highest level of his presidency--I blame him and his failed policies.

How am I doing so far?

Update: Did I mishear the radio today? Are the strikes not scheduled for the US, but for Britain?

Update #2: No, I did not mishear. Guess it's an international thing.

  1. There could be no better investment in America than to invest in America becoming energy independent. The high cost of fuel this past year did serious damage to our economy and society. After a brief reprieve gas prices are inching back up again. Our nation should not allow other nations to have such power over us and our economy . We have so much available to us in the way of technology and free sources of energy. WE seriously need to get on with becoming an energy independent nation. We are spending billions upon billions in bail out dollars. Why not spend some of those billions in getting alternative energy projects set up. We could create clean cheap energy, millions of badly needed new green jobs and lessen our dependence on foreign oil all in one fell swoop. I just read an eye opening book by Jeff Wilson called The Manhattan Project of 2009. It would cost the equivalent of 60 cents per gallon to drive and charge an electric car.If all gasoline cars, trucks, and SUV's instead had plug-in electric drive trains, the amount of electricity needed to replace gasoline is about equal to the estimated wind energy potential of the state of North Dakota. Why don't we use some of the billions in bail out money to bail us out of our dependence on foreign oil? This past year the high cost of fuel so seriously damaged our economy and society that the ripple effects will be felt for years to come. www.themanhattanprojectof2009.com

If this is an attempt at mirroring BDS, you are going to have to get a lot more rabid than that!

Gawd, there are tons of better investments for America then all that alternative energy horse manure. Lots more coal and nuclear plants for one thing.

  4. As far as I'm concerned, nuclear power is alternative energy!

How about this alternative energy…the oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

I hate to tell you this but bureaucrats will not determine efficient energy. The market will. We have oil in Alaska, off the coasts of CA, the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Coast. We need the oil for multiple reasons (gasoline, diesel, plastics, and lubricants, among other things). We can get it easily if it wasn’t for bureaucrats like Stretch Pelosi stopping us.

And tell me…would her and ALGORE’s opposition be because they can set up via law requirements that we use inefficient energy (e.g. wind and solar which cannot live without major subsidies from the taxpayers, as opposed to oil and gas which generates tax revenue) because they are investors in these disasters and will make millions from them? Naa, couldn’t be that.

Or this radical concept that ties into the point Darren made. I hate to say it but the French have it together on energy. Something like 85% of their electricity comes from nukes. Now unlike us, they have all their nuclear waste stored in one location guarded by the French Army. We, on the other hand, have it stored in multiple locations throughout the county. We’ve been trying to get a single site in the middle of Nevada for years…who is opposed? Harry Reid. Having nuke plants provide half of the country’s electricity would be great…it won’t happen while these idiots like B Hussein Obama, Reid and Pelosi are in power.

    I’ll make some suggestions:

    1. Strip the legal standing of groups like Earth First to sue on behalf of the American people. They represent very few people and they slow down major investments in needed assets like electrical plants, refineries, etc.

    2. Require all members of Congress and their spouses to put their assets in a blind trust. If it’s good enough for the President it’s good enough for the Speaker. I’ll bet she won’t want to support T Boone Pickens plan for windmills if she can’t invest in them and force people to buy overpriced electricity from them.

    3. Use Imminent Domain to insure we can have our single nuclear waste disposal site in Nevada. We need it for a good reason and no one but the Army would want a shithole like Yucca Mountain

Going on strike, more accurately known as extortion.

One nice thing about the economic slowdown is that it seems to have brought T. Boone Pickens' wind-powered picking of the national pocketbook to a halt.

Since global warming, and much of the attendant eco-hysteria, seems to be losing momentum with more immediate, and real, concerns to worry us, I'm hoping some of the more idiotic expenditures like the electric vehicle subsidy will be discarded as well.
