Lyrics For A New President

Sing, choirs of angels
Sing in exhultation
Sing all ye citizens of Heav'n above

Glory to 'Bama
Glory in the highest
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
Oh come let us adore him
O-ba-ma!

This cult of personality thing still concerns me, but being a proud, patriotic American I still wish him well. I hope our country prospers under his leadership.

    Darren,

I have followed you for a few years now but have never left you a comment that I remember. I figured you and I might be some of the few educators that identify with Republican ideals.

In any case I was tagged this week so I thought I would try tagging you. I have tagged you to join me in special meme among our Professional Learning Network.

    Read my list here http://drmarkstock.com

“To maintain engagement with creative forms of self-expression throughout adult life”, I hope you will join me by: A) writing a “7 Things You Don’t Need to Know About Me” post and B) tagging 7 other people in your PLN by listing them at the bottom of your post. See 7 Things You Don’t need To Know about Me

I don't know that I would go so far as to say that I wish our new president "well." I don't wish him ill, but then again, I generally don't wish anyone ill. But even though I didn't vote for him, and even though I couldn't disagree more with him on a whole host of issues, I'm not going to berate his supporters, or take the low road, as so many of them frequently took over the last eight years. I will not adorn my office door with a composite photo of Barack Obama shots that are matched with pictures of chimps, like the poster one of my lib coworkers had that ridiculed Bush (43). I will not point out to my lib coworkers how hypocritical it is for some lib teacher to have their class watch THIS inauguration ceremony, where nothing could have been further from their mind(s) during the two prior inaugurations. This is especially true for those lib teachers who instruct subjects for which the inauguration has absolutely ZERO relevance to their class, for example, trigonometry, or anthropology.

I wish more people would read this, which sums up how I feel pretty well.

  3. I notice that now is the time for everyone to come together. Why haven't we done that for the last several years? Why did so many hate their country yesterday but love their country today? Why is it that today people feel they now have opportunities?

See, I'm a patriot. I love this country every day, even when the President is someone I wouldn't vote for.

Think "spoiled, rich kid" and it all makes sense.

Lefties want glittering royalty with it's pomp and spectacle with which they identify and who, if the dice of fate had fallen differently, they would be. That's why American lefties, when they take time out from their socialist tropes, simply swoon at the doings of royalty and have elevated various American politicians, the Kennedy's being the most obvious recipient of that elevation, to the level of royalty.

Bush, despite some of the hysteria about "imperial presidency" was distinctly *un-royal* and that's part, I believe, of what excited such unremitting and widely celebrated hatred. His unapologetically humble demeanor spit in the eye of every lefty who yearned for a truly imperial presidency.

They hated him for it and given who lefties are, they couldn't have done anything else.

  5. From the White House web site:
"President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur."

    I can feel the hopenchange.
