Cancun!

In a couple hours I'm off to Cancun for a week, where I'll fulfill a childhood dream and visit the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza.

Don't know how much blogging I'll be doing, and I don't know what my internet connection will be like, but I plan to publish at least a Picture Of The Day so you know how much I'm enjoying myself =)

  1. Make sure to head down to cenote. There's a path at about 2:30 when you're facing the ball court from the main pyramid.

Uxmal is also pretty cool if you have time.

  2. I want to see Uxmal, Palenque, and Tikal some day, but will not on this trip.

As for the cenotes, I'm already planning on it. Plenty of advance study! In fact, my tour is going swimming in a cenote, just not one of the ones at Chichen Itza.

Crap, we´re just missing each other. I´m in Oaxaca right now, but I´ve been in Mexico for over a month and I return in (gasp) 3 days. I haven´t really gone anywhere near Cancun, but the Mayan stuff is pretty cool and a lot of it is here in Oaxaca if you have the urge to visit the jungle. Try some Nopal if you get the chance...the tunas (prickley pears) are awesome (especially the red ones).

We should catch up when you get back. We can compare adventures.

  4. Hey, You get to go to CANCUN? I'm on a beach trip myself, of sorts, with Ella Numera Dos. I'm blogging to you straight from the heart of--Asbury Park, NJ. OK, things are turning around. But they have a LONG, LOOOOONNNNGG way to go to look anything like Cancun. Have fun!

  10. Loni, it's great to hear from you!

I'll be back in Sactown in about a week. If it doesn't look like our paths will be able to cross (I'm thinking shakes at Willie's), then my email is easily discernible in my profile.
