How's That Kyoto Protocol Doing?

Good thing India isn't included:

Last month, India likewise issued its National Action Plan on Climate Change, and also rejected Rudd-style cuts.

The plan's authors, the Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change, said India would rather save its people from poverty than global warming, and would not cut growth to cut gases.

"It is obvious that India needs to substantially increase its per capita energy consumption to provide a minimally acceptable level of wellbeing to its people."

A country can't tax itself into prosperity. There's no "royal road" to geometry. And we aren't going to raise the standard of living for the world's poor without electricity.

As I read somewhere today: reality sucks, but it's all we have to work with.

Leave us not forget that of all the signatories on Norway has met its Kyoto goals and that because its natural gas reserves from the North Sea preclude the need to burn coal. The rest of the signatories not only haven't met their goals they've opted out using a back door built into the Kyoto Accords.
