Okay, at some point you have to accept that the past is the past and that there is no changing it. You cannot judge any point in history by the standards of modern society. It doesn't work.
This is like the Anglos being upset that they were conquered by the Saxons... (or was that the other way around. I think some Jutes were involved as well) Sometimes one culture destroys another. Sometimes one assimilates the other. Sometimes they blend. That is the nature of history. (Should we all feel guilty because Homo Sapiens wiped out Homo Erectus?)
What happened to the native people of America was terrible, but you can't dwell on it. You acknowledge that it happened and learn from it.
