The public believes the effects of global warming on the climate are not as bad as politicians and scientists claim, a poll has suggested.
Go figure.
By the way, is "scepticism" a British way of spelling "skepticism", or did the BBC make a major spelling error in its headline? (If it's a mistake, I wonder how long it will take them to correct it.)
Anyway, back to my favorite line:
The survey suggested that terrorism, graffiti, crime and dog mess were all of more concern than climate change.
I don't know; so much of the hoopla about climate change is dog mess.
Update: Oh no, the polar bears are going to die of thirst!
(Reuters) - Ancient ponds in the Arctic are drying up during the polar summer as warmer temperatures evaporate shallow bodies of water, Canadian researchers said on Monday.
But...
Douglas said a study of the fossilized sediments in these pools of water -- which are less than 6.6 feet deep -- showed climate changes beginning as long as 150 years ago.
Did they have SUV's 150 years ago? I thought not.
Update #2: Read this about the upcoming Live Earth concert in Hamburg. The comments are as entertaining as the post is!
Indeed. Here in north texas, we've have several solid weeks of far below normal temperatures and heavy rains. No doubt global warming is reponsible.
ReplyDelete"scepticism" is the British spelling. There's even a book by Bertrand Russell which uses that spelling in the title :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks damned odd!
ReplyDeleteSo does "colour". Look odd I mean. As for the "green concert", they did something similar last year. But a friend of ours was on the crew and said that each performer had his or her own air conditioned trailer running off of diesel generators for the entire day. And think of the gas used by all those people getting there and the trampled grass...let's face it. Global Warming has become a religion. And if you dare to question it, you end up in the same type of fight in any fundamentalist church over beliefs.

ReplyDeleteSounds like the makings of a documentary. Does your friend have a camcorder?
