I have no reason to think he's a stalker, but I've been reading this guy's blog lately; he's one of the most dangerous leftists I've ever seen in the edusphere (and he may be supervising life on your campus one day):
I was perusing the links to my site via Google and....I guess I should take it as a compliment that you labeled me as one of the "most dangerous leftists" in the edusphere.
Thanks Anonymous!
Wow. Darren, we've never even met and you're calling me names!
Read again. An anonymous commenter referred to you as "one of the most dangerous leftists...in the edusphere". I merely commented that you're a nutjob, based on your writings.
Writing about those topics doesn't make you a nutjob--heck, I write about them all the time. Your views on those topics are, to be charitable, more than a little left-of-center.
I'm not convinced that jumping to conclusions is a sign of insanity. Additionally, the volume of your writings, from which I drew my conclusion, is hardly "insufficient".
A little left of center doesn't make someone a nutjob. You're extreme.
So what is your purpose here? Are you just going to argue with me because you don't like the fact that someone on the center right thinks you're a nutjob, or what?
Ummm, that comment was from "Dennis," not from me...
My purpose was to comment on the fact that you read my site and called me a nutjub. I think that it is unfortunate that a heterosexual white man like yourself is left with name calling as a way to discredit my writings. As a teacher, I would have expected more of an educated critique...
You're right. Dennis, Eric--easy to confuse the two names =)
What does my sexuality have to do with my defining your work as that of a nutjob? It's exactly that kind of analysis that I object to in your writings--you bring in things that are irrelevant and make issues of them.
It has been my experience that heterosexual white guys have the hardest time with my blog because I write about a lot of the unearned privileges that we/they receive. Our personal identities have tremendous influence on our individual viewpoints.
If that's your experience, perhaps you need to get out more.
Maybe, some people--even some who don't match all your adjectives--have a hard time with your blog because we see it as intellectually vacant and we reject the notions that you take as axiomatic.

He does like to talk about racism, doesn't he? Also discrimination, race in general, and (my favorite!) social justice.
ReplyDeleteNutjob.

ReplyDeleteSorry for the confusion. I was thanking the anonymous commenter for calling me a dangerous leftist.
ReplyDeleteMy remark about name calling was directed at you for calling me a nutjob.
What about my writings qualifies me for the label of "nutjob"?
I did not realize that writing about race, discrimination, and social justice would qualify me for such profoundly thoughtful labels.
Writing about those topics doesn't make you a nutjob--heck, I write about them all the time. Your views on those topics are, to be charitable, more than a little left-of-center.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Curious how left of center becomes a criterion for defining someone as "nutjob."
ReplyDeleteIf I were looking for a definition of insanity, one of my criterion would be "jumping to conclusions based upon insufficient data."
I'm not convinced that jumping to conclusions is a sign of insanity.

And why do you assume I'm heterosexual? =)

Must you put everyone into such boxes?
