Race Relations at Princeton

Wall Street Journal's Best of the Web Today links to a moderately amusing story about yet another race-related brouhaha at yet another university . I'm feeling somewhat under the weather and would have just read this and moved on had the closing sentence not been such a 2x4 right between the eyes:

According to the "diversity" ethos that prevails at America's elite universities, then, it is racist to make fun of people for their race but perfectly fine to discriminate on that basis.

Go read the Best of the Web link for the article and fantastic commentary.

(Thanks for the tip, MikeAT.)

I always find it funny to look at the alleged diversity at the more liberal schools. It appears that the more white and liberal you are, the less likely you are to actually live, work or attend school with people other that white kids. I have seen it happen over and over again.

    True story.
A wife of a friend of ours is a Raging Hormone Driven Menopausal Hillary Fan. So much so that we didn't speak for most of the last administration. She insisted that they move to a "diverse" area of Dallas. She reveled in her rainbow of neighbors and would drop hints how we in the suburbs were a bunch of closet nazis. Then her oldest child hit school age. Being the only blonde in class had its drawbacks and by the end of the first six weeks of first grade, they were solidly entrenched in the whitest neighborhood in Plano. Moral, everyone else should integrate and allow their own children to be marginalized to make others "feel good", but NOT MY KID. I am sure there are other stories, but then again, denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

  4. That's a classic!

Ranks right up there with the Clintons, Gores, Kennedys, Edwardses, and now Obamas all sending their children to private schools. I wonder what the racial make-up of Sidwell Friends is when compared to, say, oh, I don't know, how about, the DC Public Schools.
