Given the much greater effective range, accuracy, reliability, all weather capability and rate of fire of the long bow, it's easy to understand why the English replaced them with firearms so relatively late.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10348701.post-9504219600213688092007-10-08T10:32:00.000-07:002007-10-08T10:32:00.000-07:00Awesome article. Today's compound bows (for adults) are 50, 60, or 70 lb. bows (they're adjustable by about 10 lb -- the draw weight specified for the bow is the peak, or maximum). It would take a strong man to pull a 180 pound bow and shoot with any degree of accuracy.rightwingprofhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12419372059353408855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10348701.post-48325224492732403902007-10-07T23:19:00.000-07:002007-10-07T23:19:00.000-07:00Wow, that would suck to be in the French calvary b...Wow, that would suck to be in the French calvary back then (and even still now).
