But the law in question demanded that state and local employees (and taxpayers) assume responsibility for enforcing Federal law. And maybe the Constitution allows it, and maybe not - that's for SCOTUS to decide, ultimately, and the authors of the bill certainly knew that they were sailing uncharted waters.<br /><br />It's not as if the AZ lege operates in ignorance of the Mann act, but they don't require local forces to enforce it. And parts of Arizona seem to have selective vision when it comes to enforcing bigamy laws. So.
