My Advice To Donald Trump's Campaign Manager

Don't let him mention today's FBI story.
Don't let him mention the latest Wikileaks story.
Don't let him talk about whose hoo-hah he wants to grab, or what women he wants to sue.

Let him talk about his plan for the first 100 days.
Let him talk about his Black New Deal.
Let him talk only of a positive vision.
Let him talk only if scripted.

The first rule is, when the enemy is conducting a circular firing squad, don't get in the middle of it.

But if anyone could get in the middle of it, it's Donald Trump.

"...conducting a circular firing squad, don't get in the middle of it"

Hadn't heard that one before. I like it!

Probably an old army expression.

If Comey had any friends, they'd encourage him to spend more time with his family.

If any other Republican was able to articulate and expand on Trump's plans in a respectful manner and not act like he does, he or she would easily be winning, regardless of whether the plans would work or not. Trump's baggage isn't from policy but his continual sabatoging any opprutunity to demonstrate that he can act professionally, which scares and offends people. He could've changed his behavior after the primary and won over moderates that see he could at least act the part, but he doubled down on his rhetoric and turned off a lot of more moderate or sensitive Republicans. It's one thing to "tell it as it is" but if you want to win people over you have to do it in a more intelligent way.

Maybe 2020 will get a smarter Republican to win the White House.
