St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Just as I was surprised in Puerto Rico, a US possession for well over 100 years, that there was so much Spanish and so little English on display, I was surprised in St. Thomas, a US possession for almost 100 years, that they drive on the left side of the road.  On neither island did my surprise take away from the natural beauty:

We acquired the US Virgin Islands from Denmark in, I believe, 1917.

What sort of tree is that in the bottom picture?

I have no clue. I think I'm doing well if I can identify a plant as a flower, a tree, or a bush :-)
