California's Alternative Teacher Education Programs
I had no idea that most of these programs existed until I saw a link at EIA (see blogroll).

Recall the recent mass firing on the East Coast? The superintendent when asked about filling positions said she could turn to Teach for America to find replacements. So we have a Federal teaching army being trained to replace those teachers who "fail". Get into your 50's and find your replaced by some idealistic, 20 something, without children, family, or other responsibilities.
