Just Say No--To Ebonics and Gangsta Rap

Joanne (see blogroll at left) links to the story of an organization that helps black students speak proper English. Founded by black professionals, the Orators was created because of the poor interviewing skills the founders witnessed from young black candidates for jobs.

My favorite quote: "Without subject-verb agreement, what you say will be discounted."

This is great! Thanks for the link. My passion is Oral Language Development skills...across the ethnic board, but especially with blacks. There are some who are as combative about learning the Kings English as illegals who have been here 25 years or more.
I was called a racist by a black parent because I told a child that slavery is over, and it was time to stop talking like one.
Had I been 'white' I probably would have suffered greatly for that comment.
The Orators of New Jersey are a refreshing organization, and this gives me more ideas for an after school program.
